- 3 nIla kaNTha - According to the sthalapurana , daksha performs a yagna where Siva was not invited and pArvati attends the yagna . After being insulted there she jumps into fire and is born as a pea hen in mAyuram and worships Shiva here. Lord Siva then takes the form of a peacock and marries pArvati .Hence there are two references to nIla kaNTha in this composition,one to mean the blue-necked peahen and the other to refer to Lord Shiva whose neck is blue because of swallowing the AlakAla that arose during the churning of the ocean of milk.
