  • 1 azvArUDhAyai - azvArUDhA is one of the commander-in-chief of lalitA tripura sundari in her war against BhandAsura and by invoking her name dIkshitar also adds a reference to BhandAsura at the end of the composition.
  • 3 paJca makArAyai - A term frequently used in tantra particularly in what is called the left-handed path or vAmAcAra . The five ma-kArAs all starting with the word ‘ma’ constitute mAmsA (meat), madhya (wine), matsya (fish), mudra (grain), and maithuna (sexual intercourse). The right-handed path or dakSiNAcAra follow these as symbolic practices only. The path of tantra is considered to highlight the fact that conquering human senses by using these substances and yet remaining unaffected by them rather than by avoiding them or denying them. Hence several schools of srividya have these concepts of paJcamakAra in subtle forms i.e incorporate them in symbolic form by way of ritual gestures. Here it means - The one worshipped through the concept of paJcamakAra . These 5 M’s are considered to have allegorical and esoteric meanings as well:
  • madya symbolizes the heavenly amRta that drips from the glands in brain onto the tip of tongue when it touches the interiors in khecari mudra .
  • mAmsa sybolizes swallowing the tongue(eating meat). It once again symbolizes the khecari mudra in which the tongue is swallowed back simulating eating meat.
  • matsya - Twin fishes symbolizes the activation of iDa and piNGaLa nAdIs in the backbone. They are like 8 shaped structure intertwining like two fish.
  • mudra is the different gestures the hands and body take when the kundalini is activated and passes up through the central channel.
  • maithuna is the union of kundalini (female power) in the body with Siva (male power) in the brain center and the intense bliss that comes out of this process.
  • 4 gamapadA - dIkshitar here uses a complete set of ArOhaNa svarAkSharam s to describe the tender feet of the Goddess worshipped by the Agamas
