  • ’’’ Kshetram - Thirukkadaiyur ’''
  • 1 amRta ghaTEzvara - Lord Siva is known as amRta ghaTEzvara at this kSEtra since there is a legend that during the praLaya a small droplet of amRta fell into a pot and took the form of a linga and hence the name amRta ghaTEzvara - the Lord of the pot of nectar.
  • 2 The kSEtra Tirukkadaiyur is associated with the legend of mArkaNDEya where Siva kicked yama in order to save mArkaNDEya , the son of mRkanDu and marutvati was ordained to live only for 16 years. When the time for his departure arrived Yama came to retrieve him and he sought refuge in Siva who stopped yama and used his leg to ward off the Lord of death and protect his devotee. It is considered that the vAma bhAga or the left side of Siva is that of the Goddess and it is she whose grace saved mArkaNDEya since it was the left leg that was used to kick yama .
  • 3 vizuddhi cakra - It is considered in Sakta literature that during the course of the ascent of kunDalini , the vizuddhi cakra symbolizes the transcendence over time. dIkshitar seems to link the victory over death by mArkaNDEya with this transcendence over time.
