O Overlord of Kings! One whose beauty equals that
of a hundred Cupids!
One well-praised by Thyagaraja! (Of what use is such a life) when you
do not soothe me by explaining the inner secrets of
the world, shining fittingly before me at the time of worship and prayer?

Variations
- 1 dazaratha rAma - dAzarathi rAma
- 3 sannuta nIdu - sannuta: nIdu is not given in some books
Commentary
- 2 rAji has been derived from urdu word ‘rAzi’ which means ‘consent’, ‘agree’ ‘pacify’ ‘soothe’ etc. among other meanings. This meaning seems to be more appropriate.
