Commentary
- General - ‘‘‘As per remarks available in some books, this Kriti is believed to be not written by Sri Thyagaraja, but sung by certain lineage of his disciples.’’’
- General - Jaya-Dhana-Dhanya-Kanaka-Adi-Dhairya-Maha-Santana - these are eight names given in the Kriti. However, popularly, the following are the names of the eight forms LakshmI - Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi and Dhana Lakshmi.
- 2 kanaka – this seems to mean Gaja Lakshmi.
- 3 Adi - The word may also taken as ‘etc.’ because ‘Maha Lakshmi’ and ‘Adi Lakshmi’ mean same. Please also refer to Devi Mahatmyam – Uttara Bhagam – Pradhanika Rahasyam regarding Maha Lakshmi.
