O Lord Rama! O Lord Rama! O The Most Eminent of all! Why this partiality by You now, O Compassionate Lord?

vEda¹ ziramulellanAdaraNatO
nIvE daivamani nammaga nammiti (O rAma)

I trusted You because all the Upanishads – acme of Vedas, respectfully believe that You alone are The Lord.

peddalaina² vAriyoddanE satyamu
kaddani nammitini sammatini (O rAma)\t

I whole-heartedly trusted that there is truth only with those great personages (there is truth only in what those great personages say).

bandhu ratnamA dayA sindhu nIvani satya
sandhuDavanukoNTini rammaNTini (O rAma)

O Best of all relations! I considered that You are Ocean of mercy and True to Your Word; therefore, I called You.

bharatu carya saha³ carunitO niNDAra
karagucu palikitivE kAcitivE (O rAma)

Isn’t it that You spoke to Lakshmana – your companion - much passionately about the conduct of Bharata and also protected him?

sati mATalu sadA kapijucE⁴ vini sam-
matini kaugiliJcina zubhAnana (O rAma)

O Auspicious Faced who, listening always to the words of (or about) Your wife through Anjaneya – born of monkey, whole-heartedly embraced him!

munu bhakta kOTulu koniyADa nIvu
vArala brOcinadi lEdA mariyAdA (O rAma)

Earlier when great devotees extolled You, didn’t You protect them? Is it honourable (not to do so now when I extol You)?

I jagatini tyAgarAjuni⁵ brOcuTak-
I jAlamika tALanunI vELanu (O rAma)

At this time, I shall not forbear further this delay in protecting this Tyagaraja in this World.
